Resident Advisory
December 22, 2011
Police are warning residents about a group of people pretending to be inspectors from the local water company.
Someone will create a diversion at the front door, while another person will lead the homeowner downstairs to the basement, according to Police Lt. Roger Reinson. The door is left open as the resident is distracted, and the other suspects go upstairs to ransack the rooms and steal the residents’ belongings.
Lt. Reinson said that all township or utility company employees have proper identification, “If they don’t have identification, they are not allowed on your property,” he said.
Residents with suspicions about any type of scam are urged to call the North Brunswick Police Department at 732-545- 3200
